I am back

Wow... it has been a looooong time since I last posted. I know I promised to post the pictures from our trip to San Francisco but there has to be a better way. The simple thought of having to go through the incredibly time consuming process of posting 100s (even a handful) of pictures via the blogger interface is enough to make me put down my blogger pen for weeks!

Now, I should not only blame the act of putting pictures up for my hiatus, the start of Ramadan (Mubarik to everyone!) and the need to veg after coming home from work, cooking and cleaning also played a role.

Well, any way if any of you have read Kamran's blog I am sure you are up to date on our trying to adopt a cat fiasco. However, I would like to give a little more detail where I can.

So this past Saturday Kamran and I got up early and went to the North County Humane Society and SPCA to check out the cats. We walk in the poor doggies are barking, and you know they are saying "please take me home... I need a home." With our heart steeled against the want to save every pet, Kamran and I make our way over to the cat section.

There it is love at first pet for Kami (for me it takes a couple of secs). "Pumba" is a 4 month or orange taby and just looooves cuddling with Kami, he is chewing/licking Kami's fingers crawling up his chest, prring, the works. We want to take him home. Then I notice he is missing some hair on his paw, so I ask the girls what the problem was.. they ALLLL say "oh nothing, just probably scratched itself." Mind you it does not look like a scratch or a wound, but what do I know, they are the experts.

With our hearts set to take Pumba home (we would later rename him to Chippo) we fill out the paper work, give the money for the adoption and spend the rest of the weekend preparing for the new addition to our family. I am to pick him up Monday once he has been neutered. Well, Monday comes and the vet calls and tells me that "Pumba" has ringworms. Break. Side Note: Ringworms have nothing to do with worms... nooo worms involved. It is simply a sort of dermal (skin) fungus, which is contagious, but not dangerous. Either way, Kamran and I do not feel like bringing home a sick and contagious cat. We ask the doctor to keep him for treatment but the vet has no room, and Pumba would probably be contagious for about 4-6 weeks. Hmm.. so now what? I call the Shelter back and ask if they can house the cat for the time being, and we would pay for its treatment, and bring him back home when he was ready. Their response? "No." NO?!!! is it not their job to find kitty cats homes! Why the freak not?! "Well, then I guess we will return the cat to the shelter," I say. "Sure but you do not get your money back." WHAT THE FREAK?!!!

Now I am thinking.. "You give us a sick contagious cat! I even asked you idiots if we should be concerned BEFORE the adoption! You do not have any other cats that we like to adopt, and now you want to keep the money for a cat we did not even get to take home?!!!" To sum it up... I was PISSED. But of course, being nice comes before being pissed, so I smile sign the paper work and walk out.

See now the thing about me is I may not be able to yell and be pissed at someone physically but I am not going to let someone cheat me.

With that taken care of Kamran and I begin a new search for a kitty, and come across "Jason." I have just sent in the adoption paper work and Insh'Allah if all goes well Jason will be coming home with us next week.

It was not love at first sight. That kitten fell in love with me, not the other way around. ;)
